Ebooks & E-readers: Using Kindle e-readers

Borrowing a Kindle E-reader

Kindle Touch Readers are available for check-out at the Library Front Desk.  These items may be borrowed for 3 weeks and can be renewed if there are no other patrons who are waiting.

To borrow a Kindle, you must be a YCCC student, faculty, or staff member with a valid YCCC ID card or number.  If you currently have overdue library items on your YCCC Library account, you will be unable to check-out a Kindle.

Kindles come with books already loaded.  Please do not remove or attempt to purchase new titles.  Send us your suggestions for titles to add.  You may also download e-books from Maine's Download Library.  See the Librarians for assistance at check-out.

Replacement Cost for Lost or Damaged Kindles

When you borrow a Kindle from the YCCC Library, you understand that there are certain responsibilities associated with the usages of this equipment and agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • the Kindle is the property of YCCC
  • the Kindle will be returned in the same condition in which it was provided and on the due date
  • the borrower is responsible for the replacement cost of the Kindle if the item is lost or damaged

Your cost to replace a lost or damaged Kindle is significant, so take precautions and safeguard these devices.

The Library's Kindle Project

The YCCC Library's Kindle project was made possible by a generous grant from the YCCC Foundation Board.  Many thanks for their ongoing support!
