The sequencing of courses in this program begins in the fall semester. Students entering in the spring or summer will likely take longer than two semesters to complete the program.
The Hospitality and Tourism Management Certificate is designed to meet the needs of people seeking a career within the hospitality industry or for hospitality professionals wanting to enhance their career opportunities. These courses represent the basic hospitality and business courses necessary to understand the general environment of hotel and resort operations, event management, and food and beverage management, as well as customer service, marketing, and budgeting. This program is designed to establish a foundation for working within this fast growing career field. The credits earned within this certificate program will also transfer into the Hospitality and Tourism Management Associate in Applied Science degree program.
This program will equip graduates for entry to mid-level and middle management positions in the hospitality field, particularly those with relevant work experience. Positions may include: concierge, shift managers, assistant managers, sales associate, customer service representative, and special events coordinators.
