ATHLETIC ASSISTANT – Athletics (Jennifer Laney – 207-216-4399; jlaney@yccc.edu)

4 POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Assist with promotion of Athletics and Esports (social media, bulletin boards, etc), aide in game day preparation, staff game day table (home contests). Provide office coverage, assist with Presto website updates. Aide in the planning of campus events to enhance student experience and complete general duties and tasks as assigned. This position will also serve as an overall Admissions Ambassador to promote the college and assist with Admissions communication

 

Qualifications: Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). Student will have knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Word, Canva, Microsoft Excel)

Student must be able to work independently and possess excellent organizational, critical thinking, and customer service skills. Student is expected to file, have knowledge of office machines, data entry of confidential information, other duties as assigned and willingness to work on special projects provided by the Assistant Director and Director.

FRONT DESK ASSISTANT- Student Success Commons (Danielle Ebbrecht 207-216-4323 or  debbrecht@yccc.edu)

Serve as the first point of contact when people walk into the Student Success Commons for assistance with tutoring, library or disability support services. Be familiar with tutoring schedule and providing referrals to the appropriate tutor-either in person or online. Guide the appropriate students to the Testing Center. Assist patrons with questions while using the learning resources (including basic informational needs, equipment problems, etc.) Provide one-on-one orientation to resources, as requested, troubleshoot technology problems and facilitate technology question referrals (Webdesk). Support SSC and College policies, as necessary. Collect SSC usage statistics and ensure student sign in and sign out, handle basic circulation of materials for SSC patrons using automated system, take responsibility for own shifts (and finding and reporting replacements), maintain the confidentiality of all patron information. Strong customer services skills are essential.

 

OFFICE ASSISTANT – Admissions (Allyson Grochmal  or agrochmal@yccc.edu)

Assist in the planning and implementation of various campus events and activities including, but not limited to, High School visits, Open Houses, Express Admissions and Registration Days, and New Student Orientations. Greet those who come on campus and guide them to the appropriate area of the college. Conduct campus tours.  Assist with Admissions correspondence through phone calls, texts, emails and mailings. Assist with the data-entry of all inquiries and prospective students in our Jenzebar computer system. Assist the Director with basic office tasks including, but not limited to, collecting and sorting mail, downloading and uploading digital documents, scanning, copying, and filing. The student should possess strong communication skills and the desire to work as a team and serve as an overall YCCC ambassador. 

 

CS/IT LAB ASSISTANT – Computer Science (Lauren Mayhew  207-216-4368 or lmayhew@yccc.edu)

Student will have Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Knowledge of Brightspace and how to navigate around it easily, some programming skills preferred (e.g. python, java, html/css, etc...). Assist setting up class labs, provide basic IT troubleshooting, assist students with basic PC troubleshooting, assist with grading and data entry, manage CS Email & Message Boards, assist supervisor with special projects and other duties as assigned.

      

COMPUTER SCIENCE TUTOR -  (Lauren Mayhew  207-216-4368 orlmayhew@yccc.edu)

The computer science/information technology work study will spend approximately 25-30% of their time tutoring other CIS students. These duties will not only include helping students understand the given assignment, but also providing textbook and online resources to assist the student.  Additionally, the work study student will work with the CS/IT department and the Student Success Commons to create written documents and resources for current and future CIS students.

Student will be required to complete daily filing, copying and scanning.  Knowledge of office machines is helpful. Student will need Knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and Excel to assist with confidential data entry into spreadsheets. Student will assist with special projects, front desk coverage during peak hours and other duties as assigned by Assistant Directors & Directors.

 

READING TUTOR / COUNTING TUTOR – America Reads - Early Childhood Development (Michelle Mehler 207-216-4403 or mmehler@yccc.edu)

York County Community College students in an Early Childhood Development certificate or degree program may have the opportunity to tutor children in reading/math at local schools/libraries. Student will represent York County Community College  in local elementary schools.  This program not only aids in student portfolio development, it also provides outreach services for schools/libraries.

 

PEER TUTOR - Student Success Commons (Danielle Ebbrecht 207-216-4323 or debbrecht@yccc.edu)

Provide academic support and tutoring for students who come to the Student Success Commons for math help. Tutors will help students develop learning strategies, recommend learning resources, answer student inquiries and help with exam preparation in both one on one and group settings. Peer tutors prepare and lead weekly subject focused study groups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as outstanding demonstrated achievement in math. Facilitate peer-to-peer discussions about academic skill development.

Greet students, orient students to Student Success Commons and assist students with questions as requested, provide academic assistance to students in (math, writing, sciences or trades and study skills, Assist with creating academic resources and promotional materials. Assist students with questions while using the Student Success Commons resources and equipment (including troubleshooting computer and printer issues.  Record and enter data for Student Success Commons usage statistics.  Assist with social media (facebook, twitter, tumbler, etc.  Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information student usage.

Assist with various projects, including copying, filing and organization in the areas of Human Resources, Accounts Payable and Student Accounts.  Assist with various mailing projects in the areas of Human Resources and Student Accounts, assist with Student Accounts and various front desk operations. Assist with various typing and data entry projects in the areas of Human Resources, Student Accounts, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger.  Assit Accountant with general office and organizational tasks; assembly of binders, informational packages and other duties as assigned.

 

OFFICE/LABORATORY ASSISTANT - Biological Sciences (Maria Niswonger 207-216-4363 or mniswonger@yccc.edu)

Work with technician/instructor to prepare laboratory materials, Student cleans, washes and sterilizes laboratory equipment, follows and helps maintain laboratory safety procedures. Student Inventories and organizes laboratory supplies, sets up apparatus for experiments, labels and numbers specimens, sorts and packages samples. Student will maintain open laboratory hours for student study. Student will provide data entry, copying, filing, mailings, project preparation and other duties as assigned. 

 

TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT ASSISTANT - Technical Support Department  (Paul Archer 207-216-4336 or parcher@yccc.edu)

Student will act as a front desk support role for department, address user issues and either help triage simple problems or generate work orders using department ticketing system.  Provide a human element to the department so all user issues receive attention in a timely fashion.  Other IT duties as assigned. Student should have knowledge with basic connectivity to network and wifi, knowledge of Sign-on to BrightSpace, MyYCCC student portal and email, the Windows environment, knowledge of Microsoft Suite Programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, exceptional customer service skills. Knowledge of Apple, Mac and GSuite environments helpful but not required. The ability and willingness to learn on the job and the ability to research IT solutions based on given criteria.
