Want to make an appointment for on campus tutoring? Or are you not on campus during these hours but still need writing support? Email any time between 9:00am Monday and 12:00pm Friday. Feel free to ask for an appointment or send over questions or documents and our awesome writing tutor Sue will respond within 48 hours during the Monday-Friday window.

Writing tutoring FAQ


Q: Do I need to/can I make an appointment?

A: We do encourage students to make an appointment by contacting Sue Zimmer. Drop-in tutoring may be available but please reach out for an appointment to ensure you get the support you need. Feel free to send over any documents or questions you'd like to talk to Sue about even if you don't have an appointment yet.


Q: How long is a tutoring appointment?

A: Tutoring appointments are up to one hour long each. Students may book a maximum of two appointments per week. If you would like more help, please stop by the Student Success Commons to see if Sue has any additional drop-in availability.


Q: What if I can't come to campus? 

A: We want to offer support to as many students as possible, whether they're on campus or off. If you're looking for remote writing support please email Sue Zimmer between 9:00am Monday and 12:00pm Friday for any current options. (Please allow up to 48 hours for a reply.)


Q: What can a writing tutor help with?

A: A lot! Whether you have to write a discussion post or a 10-page essay, they can help you come up with and discuss your ideas, as well as how to best express your thoughts in writing. You will can get valuable feedback about the organization and tone of your writing. A tutor can help you find resources for your paper. Writing tutors can help you understand citation and work with citation styles, both MLA or APA.
