GETTING STARTED
You will need:
A stable internet connection
A computer, laptop, or tablet capable of video and audio output
The Zoom application. Visit the Zoom Download Center.
JOINING A MEETING
Simply select the meeting ID link provided to you for the meeting. Zoom will launch in a web browser or from the Zoom app for mobile devices. If you see a popup requesting permission to open the Zoom meeting be sure to choose "accept" "yes" or "Open Zoom meetings".
USING THE INTERFACE
Mute/unmute audio. When meeting with a tutor you will generally need to make sure you are unmuted.
Start/stop video.
Open the chat sidebar. If you are having trouble hearing audio or speaking, you can open the chat bar. You can also send files and documents via the chat (see number 5).
Share screen. When working with a tutor you may be asked to share your screen. Before joining a Zoom meeting, make sure Zoom has system permission to share your screen.
Share file. If you need to send a file like a Word Document, a PDF, or a text file you can send it directly through Zoom.
Current speaker/your profile picture. You'll see whomever is speaking, while the host will either see whatever your camera is aimed at or (if your camera is off) your profile picture.

Tutors, student success coaches, and counselors may have students book either in-person or remote appointments through Microsoft Bookings. This user-friendly platform allows students to select a convenient time slot, choose the appropriate service, and receive automatic confirmations and reminders. By using Microsoft Bookings, students can efficiently schedule one-on-one sessions with support staff, helping them stay on track with their academic and personal goals. Keep these tips in mind if scheduling via Bookings:
Plan Ahead: Check your schedule and book your appointment early to secure your preferred time, especially during busy times like midterms or finals.
Time Zone: Before confirming your booking ensure you're set to the correct time zone (UTC-04:00 Eastern Time)
Set Reminders: Microsoft Bookings sends automatic confirmation and reminder emails—be sure to check your email so you don’t miss your appointment!
Reschedule If Needed: Life happens! If you can’t make your appointment, use the link in your confirmation email to reschedule or cancel in advance.
Check Your Tech: If your appointment is virtual, make sure your device, internet connection, and any necessary software (like Microsoft Teams or Zoom) are ready to go before your meeting.
